For as long as I can remember I have never really been content with where I am. I’m not talking about school or work, I am talking about my physical location right now. I have what most call Wanderlust.
Wanderlust is a strong or irresistible impulse to travel. If you really think about it, the odds that you are able to travel to every destination possible is practically impossible. You know what I have to say to that? Try to get as close to everywhere as possible!
So with that, Tonight I am embarking on my farthest trip east to date. I am headed to Louisiana! Land of festivals and beignets! (Yes, I am talking about the ones from Cafe du Monde and yes, I am going to eat as many as I can.)
One of the things I love about traveling is being shocked. I want to be shocked by the fact that people live differently than I do; that there is more than one definition of “normal” in the world. And above everything else, that it is okay to have differences between people and cultures.
I will be honest, the one thing I am not looking forward to when traveling is the weather. That is one thing that will shock me no matter what. I grew up in San Diego and was spoiled by the sunny and 75 temperatures practically all year round. I don’t even think I knew what the word humidity actually meant till my trip to Central America in 2013.
Here’s what is in store for me when I hop off the plane in the morning… I am not prepared!
So here’s to everyone’s inner wanderlust desires! Check back here through out the week, as I will be trying to share my adventures with you.
